I have no issue with people bringing up the strength of the division when talking about Dumais' point totals. But it should be pointed out that he had 109 points in 68 games last year as a 17 year old playing on a worse team in a division that had three Presidents Cup contenders in it. Things have a tendency of levelling out.
As for the playoff series, Halifax will be without Whynot who is out with a broken foot and could be back for round two. Logan Crosby left the game Saturday after receiving a hit to the head. Unsure his status. Zach L'Heureux was given an aggressor and a game misconduct Saturday, but that aggressor penalty has been rescinded and he is available for game one.
Cape Breton has played Halifax tough this year at times. I predicted Moose in 5.

On the surface this series has gone as expected. But Cape Breton has played very well and Halifax has had some bad stretches, especially the first period of both games. The Moose played a lot better in the 2nd & 3rd periods, and overtime Saturday night. If the Eagles got a bounce or two this series could be tied. Game three in Sydney tonight.

To say le least! I did have the impression the Moose would go through this round, perhaps not as a walk in the park, but at least with more ease.
So I went back to see what the season looked like between them, and even though HAL did win most of the games, they lost their last 1-2. So thinking back, I recalled HAL fans saying that playing the Eagles wasn't always that obvious. Am I right?
I guess we'll find out through the next few games.

Aside from a few blowouts Cape Breton played Halifax very well in the regular season. Most games were close. Cape Breton won three out of nine. Ivan Ivan has been a beast against the Moose. Moose fans were not overly confident this series would be a walk in the park, and it hasn't been.
This is a good test for Halifax and forces them to play well from the start.

BUT CB are an average team overall and your 2nd round opponents, if you reach there, will be a better caliber.... I like the Eagles, but I don't think the Moose are mature and playoff ready enough to overcome the 3 big Q teams....specially Gatineau and Sherbrooke. This lack of intensity gets trickier against stronger opponents and consistency is so important. Halifax had it easy in the Maritimes.

Halifax were 5-1-1-1 against Quebec, Sherbrooke, Gatineau and Victoriaville. Only regulation loss was to Sherbrooke, and they beat all four of those teams. They benefitted from an easier division, but their record against other contenders shows they belong in the same conversation. If I was picking a league champion right now, it would not be Halifax. But Moose fans can only hope that they make it far enough to give Sherbrooke something to think about in round three.
